Electric Water Heater Installation in Bali

Electric storage water heater installation in Bali. All brands, 10L to 80L. Correct wiring and plumbing. All areas, same-day available.

What We Do

Electric storage water heaters are the most popular choice on Bali, and for good reason. They are reliable, the parts are stocked everywhere on the island, and they work in any property whether it is a one-bedroom apartment in Seminyak or a five-bedroom villa in Ubud. We supply and install storage tank electric heaters from 10L right up to 80L, swap out failed units, and fix the bad installations that other people have left behind. Every job includes correct unit sizing, a dedicated electrical circuit with the right cable gauge, and proper cold-inlet, hot-outlet and pressure-relief plumbing — the three things that, when done wrong, cause almost every premature failure we are called out to.

If you have just moved into a villa with no hot water, an old heater that has stopped working, or a unit that trips the breaker every time it switches on, we can usually have you sorted the same day. We carry common units and parts in the van, so for most installations and replacements there is no second visit and no waiting for parts to be ordered.

What's Included

  • On-site sizing advice — we look at your bathroom count and how the property is actually used before recommending a tank size.
  • Supply of the unit (optional) — we can source an Ariston, Wika, Rheem or Electrolux unit, or install one you have already bought.
  • Dedicated electrical circuit with correctly sized cable and an appropriately rated MCB — never sharing a circuit with lights or sockets.
  • Correct plumbing — cold inlet, hot outlet, isolation valve and a working pressure-relief valve installed the right way round.
  • Wall mounting on suitable fixings — a full 50L tank weighs over 60kg when filled, so the bracket and wall plugs matter.
  • Test and handover — we run the unit, check for leaks and confirm the thermostat is holding temperature before we leave.

How We Install It — Step by Step

  • 1. Assess. We confirm the mounting position, check the existing electrical supply, and measure pipe runs. Bad positioning (too far from the bathroom, or where the relief valve can't drain) is the most common mistake we correct.
  • 2. Mount. The unit is fixed to the wall on rated brackets, level and at a serviceable height.
  • 3. Wire. We run or verify a dedicated circuit, size the cable to the element's load, and terminate everything in a sealed connection — Bali's humidity corrodes loose terminals fast, which is why we never reuse a doubtful connection.
  • 4. Plumb. Cold and hot connections, isolation valve and pressure-relief valve, all sealed and pressure-checked.
  • 5. Test. Power up, run the element, check the cut-off thermostat, and watch every joint for a full cycle before we hand it over.

Common Problems We See in Bali

Most electric heater failures on the island come down to two things: hard water and bad wiring. Bali's well water is rich in calcium, which scales up the heating element until it overheats and fails — often after just 3–4 years instead of the 8–10 the unit is built for. The other killer is undersized or corroded wiring: when a heater shares a circuit or runs on cable that is too thin, it overheats the terminals and trips the MCB. When we install, we eliminate both of these from the start, and when we repair, we check for both before quoting.

Pricing

Installation labour starts from IDR 700,000 for a standard storage heater swap, with the unit and any extra materials quoted separately and upfront before we start. A new circuit or significant new pipework adds to the labour, and we tell you that in the quote — there are no surprises at the end of the job. See full pricing →

Frequently Asked Questions

What size electric water heater do I need for a Bali villa?
For a single bathroom, a 10–15L unit is enough. For one bathroom with a bathtub or two people, 30L is the sweet spot. For two bathrooms in regular use, fit a 50L unit; larger villas with three or more bathrooms usually need 80L or a central system. We size it to your real usage so you are not paying to keep water hot you never use.
How long does electric water heater installation take?
A straight swap in the same position with existing wiring takes 1–2 hours. A fresh install that needs a new dedicated circuit, new cable run or new pipework takes 2–3 hours. We almost always finish in a single visit.
Why does my electric water heater trip the breaker in Bali?
The most common cause is a failed heating element creating an earth fault — very common after 3–5 years in Bali's hard water. Undersized cable and corroded humid terminals are the next most likely. We diagnose on site and usually fix it the same day.
Which electric water heater brand is best in Bali?
Ariston and Wika are the most practical because spare elements, thermostats and anodes are stocked everywhere in Bali. Rheem and Electrolux are good higher-end options. We install any brand, including a unit you have already bought.
